Year 1 - Wicken Fen

This term year 1 have been learning about minibeasts. In early June they visited Wicken Fen, the country's oldest nature reserve, to learn about pondlife. They thoroughly enjoyed pond dipping and identifying the pondlife that they had caught and then learnt about dragonflies. The children were able to look through specially designed glasses that enabled them to see the world as a dragonfly does. Most of the class described this view as being very strange! Before returning to school, the children had the opportunity to participate in a variety of arts and crafts activities relating to the theme of minibeasts.
