Year 5 - Fitzwilliam Museum

On Tuesday 19 September, Year 5 visited the Fitzwilliam Museum as part of our topic 'Ancient Greece'. We started the session by looking at a Roman sarcophagus which showed us how the Romans copied the Greeks in many ways.  We discovered how historians use evidence found by archaeologists to find out about the past.  In groups we were set the task of exploring the Ancient Greece part of the museum, looking for evidence of mythical creatures and Gods and Goddesses.  We also worked as a class to retell the story of how Ancient Greek pottery was made and then used by curators in the museum.  Finally we used the iPads in groups to take pictures of our favourite artefacts.  An educational day was had by all.
