Year 6 - Evacuee Day

On Thursday 20 September 2018, the Year 6 children travelled back in time to 1939.  They had become evacuees and were being transported from London to Stibbington, to live in a new home.

Each child was given the name of a real evacuee and we then met our billeting officer, Miss Smith, on board the train.  The children spent the day completing different tasks and found out information about the everyday lives the evacuees lived.

We had a fantastic time at Stibbington.  Some of the learning was fun, but some was rather frightening.  We had to learn how to put our gas masks on just in case there was a gas attack.  If you want to know more, just ask any of the Year 6 children around school.
