Year 3 had an exciting start to their Suspense writing this term because Miss V found a mysterious bag in the park before school. It was very heavy and a tag informed us it belonged to a girl called Lucy. As a class we investigated the contents and used inference (clues) to work out Lucy’s character. We discovered photos of the Eiffel tower, a red hoodie, small blue T-shirt, many art materials and some French books.

As a class we decided she must be visiting a friend or a relative and just forgot her bag. The following day we watched a short animation about Lucy in the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris. Amazingly, she was having a piano lesson with Mr Chopin! We recorded the feature of the suspense in the film clip to help us plan our own stories.

The next stage was planning our own stories so we acted out our ideas with our friends. They gave Miss V a shiver down her spine! Once we have written our stories we will be sharing them with the year 4 class.
