Year 2 - The Great Fire of London

Year 2 have been learning about the great fire of London as part of their history unit of work. As part of this, they learnt all about Samuel Pepys and the important role his diary played for historians in finding out what happened. They first wrote questions and hot-seated Samuel Pepys to find out about his life. This led to a discussion about how he wrote his diary in code so that no one else could read it. The class were keen to know more about this and researched this special code with the help of Miss Smith. They then wrote their own codes using Tachygraphy which means ‘quick writing’.
