Sports Day - Running Races
On Monday 15th July 2024, we held our annual Sports Day with many parents and carers spectating. The children competed in running races in groups against their peers to score points for their house.
Field Events Day
On Thursday 11th July, the children were placed into groups of four and competed against their classmates to earn points for their house. Shot put, standing long jump and javelin were just some of the events that the children participated in. Year 6 ran the events as sports leaders for the rest of the school.
Year 2 have been working hard on their art project this term. They have learnt how to thread a needle, sew, plait and knot! They then used all of these skills to create a sea creature to showcase their learning.
The children in years 1 and 2 have been enjoying their time at nature club this term. They have been learning all about the world around them and creating some lovely artwork to showcase their learning. This week they learnt about mandalas and practised making some beautiful, natural mandalas using what they could find in their area.
Break the rules' day, Year 4 rebels.
Year 4 have been learning about electricity. Using their understanding of circuits, they created a range of switches by following a design brief.
Inspired by Georges Seurat, Year 4 recreated his masterpieces using Pointilism.
Year 4 played a coordinate game and Year 4 correctly drew, labelled, and positioned themselves on a grid.
Reception class had an excellent day on their school trip to Ramsey Heights. We divided into two groups and completed different activities around the nature reserve. The children went on a walk around the site to see if they could spot signs of animals that live there, went pond dipping, built dens and learnt all about the life cycle of a frog!
Year 2 are learning about turns. They first practised turning clockwise and anticlockwise before drawing quadrants on the floor to work on their quarter, half, three-quarter and whole turns. They then worked as a pair to turn objects and work out how far each object had turned.
Last week, our school had the pleasure of hosting Kids Country, along with the Peterborough & District Beekeepers Association. The children engaged in various activities, including learning about bees, creating seed bombs, and even tasting honey.
It was an exciting opportunity for the students to understand the importance of honey bees and their critical role in our ecosystem.
