Curriculum

The Foundation Stage

Teaching in the reception class is based upon the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (September 2021), a copy of which can be found here: Department of Education (DFE) website. This curriculum provides the children with a broad range of knowledge and skills that build the foundation for good progress through school and life. Parents receive updates about their child's learning through 'Tapestry'.

Key Stage 1 (5 -7 years) and Key Stage 2 (7 – 11 years)

All primary age groups are taught the subjects of the 2014 National Curriculum (English, mathematics, science, design technology, computing, geography, history, languages (French in years 3, 4, 5 and 6), art, music and physical education), as well as PSHCE (personal, social and health education including Citizenship) and Religious Education. Where possible, cross-curricular links are made between subjects and taught as topics. Other curriculum areas, for example mathematics, are predominantly taught as discrete subjects.
