The Foundation Stage
Teaching in the reception class is based upon the 2017 Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, a copy of which can be obtained from the Department of Education (DFE) website. This curriculum provides the children with a broad range of knowledge and skills that build the foundation for good progress through school and life.
Key Stage 1 (5 -7 years) and Key Stage 2 (7 – 11 years)
All primary age groups are taught the subjects of the 2014 National Curriculum (English, mathematics, science, design technology, computing, geography, history, languages (Spanish in years 3 and 4, French in years 5 and 6), art, music and physical education), as well as PSHE (personal, social and health education) and Religious Education. Where possible, cross-curricular links are made between subjects and taught as topics. Other curriculum areas, for example mathematics, are taught as discrete subjects.
